STEM-TPACK DESIGN-BASED LEARNING IN THE PRIMARY SCHOOL

The Department of Primary School Education, Faculty of Education and Psychology, Yogyakarta State University held a Public Lecture with the theme “STEM-TPACK Design-Based Learning in the Primary School” in the IDB room lt.3 on Thursday, February 12nd, 2024. The event was attended by S1, S2, and S3 students, and lecturers, as well as education professionals who are interested in the development of design-based learning at the primary school level.

Remarks from the Head of the Department of Elementary School Education by Dr. Supartinah, S.Pd., M.Hum. conveyed that STEM equips participants with the skill and knowledge needed to face the complexity of the modern world and TPACK develops effective and relevant learning strategies. At 08.00 WIB, the event was opened by the Dean of FIPP UNY, Prof. Dr. Nurtanio Agus Purwanto, M.Pd., who delivered a speech. He said, “We attend this public lecture not only as participants but as a community of learners who are ready to open themselves and their hearts to receive various knowledge information. Whether as teachers, lecturers, or students, we all have an important role in empowering society. Through this public lecture, let’s together enrich our competence and knowledge to be able to contribute better to the information of a brighter future,” his message. 

Speakers Dadan Sumardani, S.Pd., M.Ed., M.Sc. (PhD Student at National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan) Research consultant at RisetTop: Discussion & Sharing and Anis Nur Fatimah, M.Ed. (Teacher at Cikal Serpong School) conveyed that STEM-TPACK Design-Based Learning in elementary schools is an important key in preparing children with cross-subject understanding and technology skills. The combination of the STEM concept that emphasizes the integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with the TPACK approach creates an innovative and relevant learning environment. Adopting this method is a strategic step in forming a young generation that is ready to face future challenges.
