UUIK FIPP UNY SOCIALIZATION OF INDONESIAN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT MOBILITY AWARD (IISMA) 2024

The International Affairs and Cooperation Unit of the Faculty of Education and Psychological Sciences (FIPP) of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) held an online socialization of the 2024 Indonesian International Student Mobility Award (IISMA) on January 16, 2024. The event was attended by Prof. Anita Triastuti, Ph.D., as the Secretary of the UNY International Office, and Arum Kinanti, an English Education Student who received the IISMA from Korea University.

The Dean of FIPP UNY, Prof. Dr. Nurtanio Agus Purwanto, stated that IiSMA is one of UNY's internationalization priorities. In his contribution to supporting this activity, Prof. Nurtanio emphasized the necessity of strategies for students to succeed in the IiSMA selection. He emphasized FIPP UNY's support to achieve higher quality, in align with UNY's vision.

In addition, the Vice Dean for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Dr. Iis Prasetyo, MM in his statement, Indonesian International Student Mobility Award (IISMA) emphasized that this activity is not only valuable for students but also for the institution in reaching higher achievements. IISMA is considered an important opportunity to improve the quality of students to be able to compete globally.

Prof. Anita Triastuti, Ph.D., as the speaker of this event, explained that this program is one of the most prestigious flagship programs. IISMA provides opportunities for undergraduate students to enjoy lectures at reputable universities for one semester. This program is a step for students in acquiring knowledge and skills beyond the classroom, at IISMA partner universities around the world.

Arum Kinanti, one of the 2023 IISMA awardees from Korea University, shared her experience. She explained the preparations taken from the beginning, including research, as the key to be successful. Arum also shared about her experience studying at Korea University as an international exchange student, both academically and non-academically.

IISMA provides opportunities for students to do internships in foreign industries, a concrete step to support the competencies needed in the industrial era 4.0. This program is intended to equip students with skills that are indispensable to automation and technology.

IISMA emphasizes that the selection competition is conducted through three ways: regular selection, affirmation, and cofunding. The success of IISMA is aimed at creating graduates who have a knowledgeable understanding, interdisciplinary abilities, and ready to facing global challenges in the future. (rit)
